RANDALLSTOWN, Md. (AP) - In the newest patient unit at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, the focus is patient comfort, not cures.
Northwest's new, $6.8 million hospice unit opened just days ago to provide end-of-life care for patients with terminal illnesses. While most hospice care is home-based, the more than 12,000-square-foot unit - run by Chicago-based Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care - caters to patients who require the more rigorous care of an inpatient setting.
