A dollar per passenger could be all it takes to protect airliners from rocket attacks by terrorists, according to Northrop Grumman, which last week wrapped up a yearlong study on anti-terrorist countermeasures for civilian aircraft. Find Us On Facebook
Working with the Department of Homeland Security, the Linthicum contractor has been testing a new Guardian system to jam shoulder-fired heat-seeking missiles fired at civilian airliners. The equipment, which can be mounted beneath a plane in a sleek 7-foot-long pod, is a variation of a system the military has used for a decade.
