Frederick firm finishes digital archiving of LIFE photosPublished 12/03/08
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Imagine seeing 75 years of history scroll across your computer screen every day for two years and not being able to talk about it.
That has been the situation for 20 employees at Crowley Co. in Frederick. The firm has been digitizing millions of images from the former LIFE magazine archives.
Patrick Crowley, company vice president and Crowley Co. service bureau chief, said Google, which is setting up a host site for the photos, didn't want the project discussed until its formal release.
