Annapolis to certify 'sustainable' restaurantsPublished 02/23/09
Annapolis restaurants may soon be sporting decals showing that they're doing their part to minimize their effect on the environment.

The city government is offering to certify restaurants that have "sustainable" practices such as recycling, buying local produce, saving water and using clean energy.The city government is offering a free certification program to highlight environmentally friendly restaurants. Restaurants will earn certification for practices as varied as buying local or organic food, recycling used fryer oil, printing on both sides of paper, saving water and educating customers.
