The boating industry may be encountering some rough seas because of the recession, but transient boaters are too busy enjoying themselves on the water to notice.

Barbara O’Connell and her husband, John, clean the bottom of their sailboat at Eastport Yacht Center. The couple is stopping in Annapolis to have their rudder repaired and enjoy the city on their way to Rhode Island.And local officials said they certainly appreciate the much-needed business they bring to Maryland's shores. "People are still boating in this economy," said Susan Zellers, executive director of the state Marine Trades Association.
