Constellation plans new fly ash dump

Constellation Energy plans to purchase a 65-acre industrial landfill in Curtis Bay to dispose of fly ash, a byproduct of its coal-fired power plants in Pasadena, a company spokesman said yesterday.

The site, off Fort Armistead Road just over the Baltimore City line, is owned by Millennium Inorganic Chemicals, which has applied to modify its permit to allow fly ash to be dumped at the site.

The plan concerns Anne Arundel County officials and area residents who said Constellation and state regulators have left them in the dark.
