United Way of Central Maryland recently added seven members to its Community Partnership of Anne Arundel County board, which helps guide local decisions and leads fundraising, community impact and volunteer efforts in the county.
The new members are: Victoria Bayless, Anne Arundel Health System; Michael DuVall Jr., Foster Thomas Inc.; Mike Holmes, Holmes Consulting; Barbara Huston, Partners In Care; David Lillefloren, Constellation Power Generation; Les McCollum, FedEx Express; and Ryan Stangle, Chesapeake Benefits Inc.

Julie Carroll, of Interiors by Decorating Den, is now a GREENleader accredited professional. A home-furnishings comprehensive training program, the GREENleaders certified sustainability training provides designers with the knowledge and credentials in sustainability, according to a release.

Terri Polm recently joined the counseling staff of Bruce Turnquist, Psy.D. and Associates in Arnold.
Polm has earned her master's degree in Biblical counseling and discipleship from the Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham, where she taught for eight years in the counseling department. She also counseled there, and at the Mid Atlantic Community Church in Crofton, according to a release.
The practice is a group of mental-health clinicians working together to serve the needs of children, adolescents and adults.

Four local Northrop Grumman Corp. employees were honored earlier this month at the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference for their technical achievements and leadership. Rosa Sandoval and Ana-Luisa Ramirez received the Luminary Award, Teresa Segura was awarded the Most Promising Award and Emilio Sovero received the Outstanding Technical Achievement Award.

Officials with HedgeCheck LLC, a specialty due-diligence research firm based in Annapolis, recently announced the appointment of two new directors for the firm's International Due Diligence Research practice.
Christine Skelton and Tracey Foley will be focusing their skills on international research and cost-effective litigation support, according to a release.
Skelton has worked for 10 years in the field, conducting domestic and international due diligence projects for First Insight LLC, as research director for Diligence LLC and as a fraud investigator at The World Bank.
Foley has nearly 15 years of international due-diligence and public-records research experience, with about a decade with Ernst & Young LLP in Washington, D.C. She was previously with PriceWaterhouse Coopers and investigative shop Decision Strategies International, according to a release.

Several local designers recently returned from Celebrating Home's annual conference. They are: Kelle Fantasia of Annapolis, Karen Sale of Arnold, Melanie Evans of Harwood, and Josey Lambert of Riva.
Some of the workshop topics included learning the tools of the trade with the "Extreme Makeover - Designer Edition" workshop and product-related discussions, such as the "A-Door-Able Product Ideas" workshop.
