There's little doubt that trashy sells these days. I personally can't wait for the Red Light District to move into the burbs with me and try to make everything naughty and sexual because it's such a "clever" and attention-getting way to make money. Can Bikini Carwashes and Pre-teen Pole Dancing schools be far behind?
It's actually kind of sick and self-exploitative when you think of it; they don't even have the mental capacity (or the spiritual wherewithal, more likely) to realize what they're voluntarily forfeiting.

I agree, it's a gas station parking lot. It's a place to get coffee, it doesn't hurt that they have attractive young ladies working there, but it is still coffee in a gas station parking lot. We made an honest attempt to get users to comment using real names. Management felt that some of our most caustic commenters would show some self restraint if they had to use their real names. It worked - to a degree. Enforcement of the real name rule proved to be impossible. After a stream of complaints we discontinued the rule. While we encourage users to use real names it is no longer required.

The publisher Mr. Marquart supports whatever Nick does and that's how it is.

I have seen fundraising car washes in the spring with high school kids with less on.
They are attractive ladies with a good plan, I doubt this will ruin the county.
My concern is what is it doing traffic in the morning? The parking lot must look like a toll booth at the bay bridge on a summer saturday afternoon!!

This may not be the best venue for expressing ones religious beliefs. Some of the God talk here in recent posts goes too far and smacks of Old Testament judgementalism. We live in a secular society and people can believe what they want. Still, every one has their own spiritual belief system. Thank God for freedom of thought! Fundamentalism and the idea that the Bible is the inerrant word of God is purely a matter of faith that most people do not buy into for good reason or, because of reason. I have a question for you: Are you judging my judging? How can that be that you openly judge me and what I post and at the same time condemn for the very thing of judging? Again, is this a trick question?
Also, go back and read the bible: your understanding of judging and what Jesus meant by judging others is not at all what was spoken of or what He meant. The part about judging has to do with ULTIMATE judgment and condemning a person without forgiveness or showing grace and mercy. The fact that I have condemned the actions of the shop owners is not an ultimate personal condemnation on their eternal soul. Besides, that personal judgment has already been done by God and people who do not repent and trust in Christ alone for the salvation of their sins are already judged and are simply waiting the final sentencing. But, know this, God in His mercy and grace is extending those more time, until either Christ returns or one dies in their sins, to repent and believe.

I took the time to read this entire thread and I cannot believe that three ladies selling coffee in what amounts to costumes has generated such a fuss! Mr. Rogers, (you really do need your own neighborhood!), your attack on anyone who does not share your views are a little disturbing. Society as a whole makes the laws that we live by, and the last time I checked, there are laws against rape! So to your point that 'mob rules', you are incorrect, because the 'mob' has deemed rape to be a crime. I understand the world has it share of problems, but I, like many others, see the good in people. The majority of the problems are caused by a minority of people. God Himself, saw good in the world because He sent His Son to save us all. Remember, we are not Christians because of ANYTHING we've done, we are Christians because GOD chose to save us by His Grace and Mercy. To those who choose to make this a political issue, what in the world does this have to do with politics? I know it's easy to blame everything (now) on the president, but really, at this level, if anyone is to be 'blamed', it would be your local politicians! Besides, no laws are being broken, and no crimes are being committed. What is there to blame? And to the young women I say, an excellent idea and good luck to you! I dislike myself for reading these stupid comments and responding...but there is always the glaringly obvious idiot who makes us Cristians look bad. Are you really going to use the arguement that these women are "tempting" us men to behave poorly? Where were the real men in your life? Did they all use lame excuses to justify bad behavior? Liquor ads don't make you drink! Porn doesn't make you rape! Howard Stern doens't make me disrespect women! These are all things that you make a conscious choice about and then act. Mary, are you kidding me? I never said there is a valid reason for rape. I never even alluded to the thought that there is a "valid" reason for rape. You missed the point entirely. Let me try again, what I was referring to is that we live in an overly sexualized and sexually charged society. That living in such a society can have the unwanted and inexcusable consequence of taking an otherwise stable person to the point where they cant "handle it" any longer and commit an act that is abominable.
Having women "taunt" such individuals happens when the whole goal is to entice and that if women would stay modest there would likely be less of an enticement. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that a person has to resort to such tactics to sell coffee. This is a poor idea that only exacerbates the problems of an overly sexualized society.
Let me try this analogy, what if someone was extremely rich and they decided to flaunt their wealth buy pinning $100 bills to their clothing, all over, on their shirt, pants, etc. Is this act more likely to entice a would be thief? Since the rich person "has it", should they "flaunt" it and show it this way? Or would you agree that this is not very "modest"? Some on here have said "if you have it, flaunt it", etc, etc.
In the end, it is just wrong to tempt another person to lust. This is true whether you, I, or anyone else believes it or not.

It's like anything else in this world, if you don't like it don't watch it, don't listen to it, don't read it or don't patronize it, Thank God you have the freedom of choice to do that in this country. The thing that cracks me up is no one complains that I can legally go buy enough liquor to injure or kill myself and other innocents driving drunk or legally buy enough cigarettes to subject myself and those around me to Lord knows what but show a little T & A and here come the Puritans. The big problem with sex in this country is people aren't having enough of it and its like anything else you try to oppress - it makes it all the more appealing. A Democratic-caused ill? Hardly. Check with a escort and they'll tell you their best customers are stuck-up, high and mighty, sexually repressed Republicans - look how the prostitution trade in whatever city the RNC holds their convention booms every 4 years; they know the biggest freaks with the most money in the country will be rolling in. Probably 60% of the cars driving through the coffee shop have a McCain/Palin or Bush/Cheney bumper sticker on them. Finally, no one asks to get raped - maybe if the GOP hadn't shut down the mental health facilities and at-risk facilities as they did during the 80's, the criminals might not be loose on the streets to perpetrate their crimes. I can only hope his next shop opens up near the City Dock...
