Tattoo artist to celebrities brings business home to Annapolis

When Frankie Orange rifles through a magazine in the aisle of a grocery store or flips past any number of the "entertainment news" programs on TV, he often sees flashbulb moments of his own life's work.

Gillespie - The Capital Frankie Orange, an Annapolis tattoo artist who has spent the past 11 years inking rock stars and pop icons all over the world, starts to design a star on Andrew McMahon's leg. Orange just opened his first studio, Orange Tattoo Company, at 2020-A West St., last month.

In his paycheck job, Orange, a 39-year-old Annapolitan, has spent the past 11 years as a personal assistant to celebrities, prepping backstage dressing rooms for the stars before their performances. The soft-spoken, light-eyed Orange has devoted much of his adulthood to the road, tending to the needs of a cacophony of rock stars and pop icons.

But by trade, he's a freelance tattooist, making money on designs...

Sailing my friend, sailing. Hit the regattas. Solomons, Oxford, Annapolis Race Week, etc. Set up at some of the after race parties. Custom designs for each regatta with custom colors. Tattoos of race boats. Best of luck!!
