National economic news often influences our outlook, but may of these stories have little to do with local reality. Sometimes getting away is good for a little perspective. A recent national conference of chamber of commerce executives brought that home to me.
Many of the communities represented are struggling to keep their doors open as businesses fail, banks close and unemployment soars into double digits. this is what I read...
...more commercial development when vacancies are at an all time high in Anne Arundel County...
...more homes when the market is saturated with homes that have been on the market for months and the demand is plummeting after the expiration of the federal incentives packages.
...more demand on infrastructure (improvements and installation of new) that the county will have to foot the bill for.
...more traffic that will need new roads.
...more elimination of greenspace.
