The vision The vision of Leadership Anne Arundel is to develop and nurture community trustees who improve the quality of life in Anne Arundel County by convening diverse stakeholders, bridging their divides, and facilitationg resolutions for the common good. The mission The mission of Leadership Anne Arundel is to provide people of diverse backgrounds with the education, resources and networks necessary to become successful proactive leaders. Tribute event Leadership Anne Arundel will hold its annual Tribute ceremony June 23 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. Tribute is the nonprofit organization’s recognition of its graduates and alumni. LAA conducts several classes to familiarize participants with the county, train them in leadership skills and offer networking opportunities. The classes participate in community projects, such as Teen Court, the 21st Century Education Foundation, Battle of the Bands and more. Master of ceremonies for Tribute will be Larry Ulvila. As the county struggled through tight economic times, so did LAA. Participation and financial support were down, and former executive director Patrick Lee had to switch into survival mode. “I had to batten down the hatches, cut costs, cut staff. It’s not something that anyone wants to have to do.” When Lee took on the job, he promised a tenure of only two to three years.
