Volunteer of the Week: Exploring fears of breast cancerPublished 11/29/04
Not content to be just active on the boards of the Arthritis Foundation and the hospital's Medical Foundation, Eastport's Judy Stewart recently stepped out a bit further in the fight against breast cancer. She wrote a humorous book on the subject of mammograms as a fund-raiser for breast cancer research. In her inaugural book, Hooterville, Mrs. Stewart writes in lyrical style about a town where only women reside. She addresses the subject of annual mammograms, or "squeeze" as it's affectionately known, by adding laughter and lighthearted fun to the mix. With humor and imagination, she explores some of the fears and anxieties...
