A door stoop in Annapolis' Historic District is sporting what may be a first this holiday season: a Christmas cucurbit carved to look like Santa's favorite reindeer.
Its creator, artist John Norton, carved the roly-poly orange squash a few days ago.
Though carved pumpkins are the norm during the autumn, Mr. Norton considered creating a Christmas pumpkin last year. But by the time he could act on his brainstorm in mid-December, no pumpkins were available locally.
