Many longtime residents of Annapolis will remember an old friend named Sam Nichols, who lived here for more than 30 years with his late wife Helen and was a member of First Presbyterian Church for many years. It was good to catch up with the latest exploits of Mr. Nichols, who was so much a part of the Annapolis community during his years in town, and it seems is still the life of the party. Mr. Nichols was a cartoonist who enjoyed making people laugh and an illustrator whose work was included in three books on sailing before moving closer to one of his children in Rochester, N.Y., about four years ago.
