My grandmother inspires me. Shes been through a lot, said 13-year-old Tymiesha Barnes, at right, of her grandmother, 46-year-old Wanda Blake. The two live in College Creek Terrace, public housing only a few blocks from the State House.Find Us On Facebook
Wanda Blake, 46, spends her days locked inside her immaculate, cozy second-floor apartment, afraid to tarry too long outside. The sound of gunfire is a routine occurrence on nearby street corners. She watches to ensure her grandchildren reach the safety of her doorstep after school.
