'Lost World' scientist at Quiet Waters : New species uncovered in New GuineaPublished 03/14/07
It's like Indiana Jones meets the "Lost World," only better, because it's true. The Maryland scientist who led an expedition into the jungles of New Guinea and discovered several new species of plants and animals is coming to Annapolis tomorrow evening to talk about the trip and his plans to return this year. Ornithologist Bruce Beehler, who led a team of a dozen American, Australian, Dutch and Indonesian scientists into the mist-cloaked Foja Mountains in 2005, will share photographic evidence of the new species of flora and fauna recorded on the trip at the event sponsored by the Anne Arundel Bird Club.
