Annapolis' year-long 300th birthday party kicks off today with the first in a series of celebrations marking milestones in the city's long and storied history.
The Annapolis Charter 300 gala, commemorating the issuance of the city charter by Queen Anne, in 1708, will run until December 2008.
The big party will feature tall ships, art shows, boat shows, car shows and parades, as well as a commissioned symphony and possibly a ballet.
