Published 01/20/08

A Wisconsin blogger wrote to The Capital this week proclaiming that "the illegal Mexican stealth army" will take over America.

"The plan of the elitists (who employ undocumented workers) is the ultimate denigration of the middle class into the same class as the peons and peasants invading this country," the blogger wrote.

When asked what reasonable action the country could take, the blogger said, "Honestly, I don't know what the answer is."

On Tuesday evening, Annapolitans will hear a more developed discussion on immigration, one of the most complex topics facing the country.

Roberto Suru is wrong - 2008-01-23 00:02:27

Mr. Suru are you kidding? To paraphrase, 'If we want chicken breasts really $$ cheap we have to accept some sort of illegal trade-off? Utterly Ridiculous! Illegal, Is Illegal and I remain sick of the excuses provided by everyone with one. Like MOST, I?ve never assumed or believed an infestation was occurring; I believed those in charge, ie-The INS & our government at too many levels, were ACTUALLY doing their jobs but 911 showed us all they were NOT. This infestation is also a DIRECT result of a Media machine that has chosen to disperse ONLY what they wished the masses should know, for decades now. The ISSUE ?we the people? should be discussing is how to make it faster and a lot safer for ALL people (except terrorists nutjobs) everywhere who wish to immigrate to the USA. Personally, I hope and expect we'd all deny together EVEN the hint OR possibility of any future attack but I guess we all forget how to shoot for HIGHER Goals in life. I am ALL for whomever wishes to LEGALLY come and accept the challenges and rewards of becoming an American. I welcome their dreams and effort and EXPECT a minimum back for the opportunity THIS nation?s offers. Do it LEGALLY. Integrate- Learn, know and speak the language! If you feel that's racist, it is YOU who are way, way, way out in LEFT field.

Think of Immigrant Impact - 2008-01-22 14:09:48

Wow, national comments, nice! Why don't we consider the impacts immigrants have on our lives? They are an integral part of our society. We discuss these impacts here: http://www.annapolisnow.com/2008/01/22/illegal-immigrants/

Brittanicus - 2008-01-20 16:19:02

Everybody welcomes a new immigrant, who went through the hoops to get the citizen taxpayers permission to live and work towards the American dream.

But alas, millions have broken our laws to steal the American dream from honest citizens. If you read the news reports hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizens are being laid off from employment, because of the terrible free trade practices. The only winners in the globalist agenda are the corporate hierarchy.

Annapolis Immigrant - 2008-01-20 15:01:29

What The Hispanic culture doesn't seem to understand about getting out of poverty is letting go of your culture and language and embracing and assimilating in the American culture. Hispanics from Mexico and Central American immigrants want to keep their language and cultural values and pass those on to their children. In the past, immigrants forced their children to speak English and embrace the American values. Their children became the America we are today. But Hispanics from the above mentioned countries just aren't doing this. And until they do so, they are going to stay poor. The part that I am not understanding about their culture is they have no interest in assimilating or being a part of our country, and are wanting us to change to their culture. As of up to lately, this has been working, look at California, it bends over backwards to accommodate this group, but they will not return the accommodation by learning and speaking English in public. This is insane. For they moved to this country because their culture doesn't work and/or have the tools to succeed. And the ACLU seems to want to sue any American city, organization, or persons who tries to give them tough love the tell them how it is to succeed in this country. The media, who have always been our watchdogs on Gov't abuses refuses to report on this subject for fear that Truths are hurtful to any minority (PC Brainwash). When in reality, you can not make any change unless you understand the whole truth about your reality. e.i, (excepting you're are an alcoholic to change from being an alcoholic). So, until these cry baby hispanics get their act together and learn our culture and language and not vise versa, they will remain an underclass.

Revolutionaries - 2008-01-20 11:16:23

The Revolutionaries in the government have taken this country down a road it may never return from. How can we deal with them when they never keep their word on any immigration policies of the past? The strangers amongst us are our politicians and our police!
