Annapolis celebrates Black History MonthPublished 01/21/08
Three venerable institutions will come together on Feb. 7 to celebrate Black History Month in Annapolis.
Sponsored by the First Baptist Church and the Anne Arundel County Branch of the NAACP, the event will have as its keynote speaker Vice Adm. Jeffrey L. Fowler, the superintendent of the Naval Academy.
Also, the acclaimed Naval Academy Gospel Choir and the First Baptist Church Mass Choir will perform. Adm. Fowler, who became superintendent in June, has said he wants to increase minority recruitment at the Naval Academy.
