Moyer under fire for handling of crime study

Published 06/13/08

Data on crime in Annapolis is being smothered under a pile of political bickering, including claims by some City Council members that Mayor Ellen O. Moyer is keeping the report from the public and dictating its content to make the city appear safer than it is.

Ms. Moyer said this morning the two male members of the City Council Public Safety Committee who are raising the complaints are "paranoid."

"I think the boys are creating a...

Heavy Handed Hannah - June 14, 2008

Thanks to The Capital for writing this article, which accurately depicts the attempt by Mayor Ellen O. Moyer to obstruct providing detailed information how policing in this city can be improved, and for Aldeman Arnett and Cordle for courageously taking on the Mayor's wrath so that the public can be more informed on what needs to be done to improve safety and security in Annapolis.

Two Step - June 13, 2008

Ah yes the old Democrat Two Step. Shuffle to the left, spin towards the center for the cameras. When someone points out you paid for your dance ticket with Monopoly Money and furthermore you're not wearing underpants you insist it was REAL (But Canadian) money and your underpants are 'Clear'. Then accuse everyone else of having bad eyesight. Sheez...the gall of Ms. Moyer to insist that Annapolis can't be compared to any other city. Ms. Moyer, look at JUST the Public Housing population, the crime THERE and when THEY go downtown to rip folks off. There's your crime statistics. Or ask a Cop.

I can see why - June 13, 2008

they wouldn't want the slide comparing Annapolis to other similar sized cities, the Naval Acedamy, St John's and their visitors are a signicant source of crime. If anything, those sources dilute the crime stats. It's not too late for a recall.

Moyer strikes again - June 13, 2008

Moyer needs to get over herself. All elected officials as well as the public should have access to this report. Kudos to the Capital for finally writing an article portraying Moyer for who she is - someone who consistently mismanages most city affairs while attempting to subvert and upstage anyone who opposes her or might make her look bad. Her term cannot end soon enough!
