Art and Jean Held, owners of the former Johnson's On The Avenue on State Circle, donated money to the Annapolis Police Department for the purchase and maintenance of a new police dog. The couple also recently donated money to the county Police Department for a new Segway.

Wow, the generosity of the Helds is amazing! It is nice to see citizens that are in a position to help fund public safety projects do so. Although you may not think so at times, the budgets for public safety are far below ideal and are barley adequate to cover BASIC needs of the agencies. Again, thank you Helds!!
