A second-grader at Annapolis Elementary School, Lucy, 7, is a veteran of the event, which began in 2005 and benefits the Light House homeless shelter on West Street. With her official bib number still pinned to the back of her shirt, Lucy said she had "no problem" completing her route of five miles.
Not everyone could make the same claim on an event day marked by lots of sun and blistering heat. At least there was a steady breeze.
