Kneseth Israel congregation holds ceremony for scroll

In the same way that many Annapolitans celebrate life-cycle events through faith, so too, does a Torah, a scroll that contains the holy scriptures of Judaism.

When the Kneseth Israel synagogue's members met yesterday at their sanctuary to honor a Torah, they were welcoming the birth of a new chapter in their 103-year-old history, as well as the marriage of the new scroll with the community.
The members of Kneseth Israel on Spa Road hadn't witnessed a new Torah dedication in almost 50 years, said Pam Weigert, a congregant who organized the event. The Torah is comprised of the five books of Moses.
