Residents give gifts to Santa

It might be easier managing real elves than coordinating five Santas, volunteers and equipment for the fifth annual Santa Run.

Yesterday afternoon, Annapolis Firefighter John Muhitch stood on a parking lot in Truxtun Park in Annapolis surveying 50 volunteers, 12 fire engines, four police cruisers, one sheriff's car, five fire department utility vehicles, a couple ambulances and a bomb-sniffing K-9 black Labrador.

While five men dressed as Santa milled around, Firefighter Muhitch quickly sorted out which firetrucks would transport each Santa and a clutch of teenage elves on the three-hour journey that criss-crosses the...
