When a group of local girls heard that budget cuts were eating into the public library's book purchases, they cooked up a plan to help.

A group of local tweens recently held a bake sale at the Bay Ridge Pool to help with budget cuts at the public library. Not pictured is Jenny Schultz.They held a bake sale recently at the Bay Ridge Pool and delivered the proceeds to the Eastport Annapolis Neck Branch Library on Hillsmere Drive. Library Branch Manager Michele Noble called the donation of $71.52 in coins and small bills "a wonderful surprise." She said the girls wanted to make sure the library could continue to buy the kinds of books they like to read.
