Kirsten Helmly of Arden-on-the-Severn had her life on track when she walked home along Evergreen Road in Crownsville late one evening this past May. The 17-year-old had just taken her GED, and planned to take classes from Anne Arundel Community College until she was old enough to join the Air Force. She was working at the community beach, at Wawa, and volunteered for the Moose Lodge and was hoping to buy a car by the end of this summer.
