City officials have not yet revealed what these employees do - that detail will be explained at a City Council meeting Monday night - but they said the jobs come from all parts of city government and include union and contract employees...

Wow my friend. Your home town of Baltimore is ground zero for unsoved murders and corrupt police. You seem to have a problem with the APD. Didnt The APD just have a double murderer plead guilty this week? I cant help but wonder if you are a resident of Baltimore or are being housed at supermax in Baltimore?. There is a difference you know Ghostof. Could it have been a narcotics case on Clay Street? you seem familiar with the area.

where to cut - 2010-03-06 08:13:36
If the first layoffs aren't at the Annapolis Police Department Narcotics Division then I won't think much of Mayor Cohen. They waste a lot of money entrapping poor black people on Clay Street and then try to make them seem like big time dealers (which they certainly aren't). I think they should just get rid of the whole department and ask the County to take over policing. The City Police are corrupt and don't do a very good job. God forbid that you get murdered in Annapolis - the crime will never get solved or the wrong person will be prosecuted.

Its about time... - 2010-03-06 07:51:25
...we had a democrat mayor who can show some fiscal prudence.
I am sorry those people lost their jobs, but working for government vs a private company should not grant them some kind of immunity from the recession.
