The project calls for 300 solar panels at Harbour House on Madison Street and about 30 at the Morris H. Blum senior high-rise on Glenwood Street. Officials said the pilot project will cut energy bills and carbon output.

The Housing Authority is working with The National Center for Housing Management, which specializes in...

As far as I know, the communities have shared dumpsters, or in the case of the Blum building, a shared trash chute to the dumpster. It would be a matter of arranging for the appropriate receptacles and their pickup in whatever manner makes sense for the facility, and encouraging/educating the residents to use them.

So I guess the answer to your question is, "they" need to have it facilitated just a bit more by the middleman of the property management!

Too bad Solyndra went under. This would have been a perfect match. Just imagine the headlines.... "Obama Solar Panels for Local Housing Project" - Ha!

I'm guessing since this is called a "campaign" they are trying to encourage residents to do more recycling in their community.

good bad, I don't know...how do you split energy cost savings? A pie chart, 3D graph, power point presentation and math professor couldn't figure out who is paying for them, who is maintaining them and how much the solar panels maintenance will cost. One thing is almost certain, these solar panels and all that's involved will cost way more than $760,000 dollars they "save" in their 30 year life span. More real inforamtion is needed.

Recycling campaign? - 2012-01-04 18:04:47

Don't we have a recycling program throughout the entire county?

What more could they possibly need?

Hey Capital - 2012-01-04 17:25:43

I'd sure like to know what phrase or single word even gives a notion of inpropriety for having a relevant comment being pulled. I'll defend this one in open forum if need be.

Colossal Waste of Money - 2012-01-04 16:36:40

Does anyone really think this tax-payer funded and very expensive installation will last any longer or operate any better than the previous one? I didn't think so.

I would be more interested to find out if Carl Snowden has any personal financial interest in or has any relative with a financial interest in Skyline Innovations or Solar Energy Services.
