Aside from the one time his plane touched down at the Miami International Airport while he was en route to Europe, Professor David Mena had never stepped foot on U.S. soil.
Wendi Winters - The CapitalDavid Mena speaks during an educational exchange with area teachers held by members of Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church in Arnold. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ideas and create partnerships with schools in El Salvador. A committee from Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church on College Parkway in Arnold, headed by Pastor Ana Langerak, Tony Schumacher and Susan Denvir, set out to make Mr. Mena feel at home when he arrived 12 days ago. Mr. Mena is an El Salvadorian native and the director of Lutheran Schools in El Salvador. He also teaches full-time in San Salvadorian public schools. The church members hosted an educational exchange on Sept. 27 with Mr. Mena as its guest speaker....
