It's a sensory thrill ride on AstroTurf. It's "surround-sound" in 3-D, accompanied by a visual feast of pageantry, glitter and flurries of swirling streamers. There's drama, suspense, a few plotlines, but mostly it's an all-American spectacle.

Broadneck High School's marching band drum majors, Melissa Hill, 17, and Ryan Gorka, 16, both seniors from Arnold, practice their winning conducting style as Band Director Matt Heist looks on. The Annual Tournament of Bands Chapter IX Championships, featuring 28 high school marching bands, takes place at Broadneck on Oct. 24.
And, at $7 for general admission, it's the same price as a movie ticket.
