For more than four years it has been Annette's job to ensure the hundred or so students who walk to school each day arrive there safely.
A half-hour each school day morning and afternoon, Annette regally controls the flow of vehicular and human traffic at the intersection of Blue Ridge Drive and Hampton Road in front of the school.
That doesn't please some in-a-hurry drivers. They seem to resent having to stop so children can use the crosswalk. Rudeness is an unfortunate occupational hazard for crossing guards throughout the county...
