When Noel Durm goes out for a little spin, he sometimes doesn't come back for hours. Twelve months of the year, the 78-year-old St. Margaret's retiree is zipping over the water on his cobalt blue and white Yamaha Wave Runner jet ski. It has 180 HP under the hood and seats three. A short trip, according to Noel, is a nip across the bay to St. Michael's and back. Usually his khaki pants, shoes and socks are still bone dry.

All year, Noel Durm, 78, a resident of St. Margaret’s, rides his jet ski for several hours at least twice a week. On an actual trip, he zips up his life vest before exploring the nooks and crannies of the creeks and rivers in the bay area.
He's that good.
Six years ago, along with three vastly younger men, Noel jet skied from Key West to Annapolis. The 1,450-mile trip took 12 days, with stops for food, fuel and sleep. One...
