Barbara Lee Swann, a Crofton fixture who left a legacy of tireless service to the town, died yesterday morning following a two-year battle with cancer. She was 72.
Mrs. Swann did every job in the Town Hall during a 36-year career, and did them in her quiet and humble way.
"She did the job because she loved the community and she loved the work," said Steve Grimaud, president of the Crofton Civic Association. "That's the only reason she did it. It wasn't for any glory, fame or attention. Her work was hard, dedicated and behind the scenes."
