The Severn School ninth-grader lives in Gambrills with his mother and father: Liz Anderson, who is an Anne Arundel County librarian, and Keith Anderson, a program manager at SI International, an information technology company.
For three weekends in April 2007, Michael worked to rebuild an aging walkway, build a rock patio, and planted shrubs at the Community United Methodist Church in Crofton. He enlisted the help of 30 volunteers, including his parents and other Scouts.
