Art Crofoot of Crofton made the decision back in February to do something memorable with his oldest child, knowing that with his son's approaching senior year in high school, he'd soon be off on his own.

Art Crofoot, at left, and his oldest son Alex, 17, and Alex’s friends Will Tucker, 18, and Steve Hartig, 17, both of Crofton, went on a 10-day, 3,062-mile trip through 11 states to visit 16 popular destinations, including the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, N.Y., Niagara Falls and Graceland, Elvis Presley’s mansion in Memphis, Tenn.In late July, Art and his son, Alex Crofoot, 17, and two of Alex's friends, Will Tucker, 18, and Steve Hartig, 17, both of Crofton, packed up the rented sports utility vehicle and set off on a 3,000-mile road trip.
