Community officials put their signatures on a 20-year lease with the county for the 4-acre tract adjacent the Crofton Library.
The estimated $6 million Crofton Regional Recreation Center will more than likely be built behind the Crofton Convalescent Center on Riedel and Davidsonville roads.
"For 32 years, we've talked about a community center," said state Sen. Edward R. Reilly, R-Crofton. "We have a long way to go. This lease is just the first step."
