My challenge to you is to prove them wrong.
You had many committed supporters, but still came in second in the primary. You narrowly won the general election despite having raised and spent a lot of money (a record amount?) mostly from big, outside donors, played on endorsements and brought in Zina Pierre and the state's top Democrats to turn out voters in gerrymandered wards.
That delivered...

Fox and the tax cap - 2009-12-02 17:59:20
Perhaps they were misprinted mailers, but I received at least one, and I believe more than one, stating explicitly that Fix was in favor of the tax cap. Of course all of those flyers have been happily recycled by now, so I have no concrete proof, but the message that got through to me was that Fox supported the tax cap.
I am quite encouraged by his campaign, and hope that Mayor Cohen can work with him and the rest of the downtown business community to move forward from the mess left behind by the previous administrations. (Emphasis on the plural).

Clarification - 2009-11-11 20:25:39
Paul J--you might be mistaken. This election was very interesting when you look at the two referendum issues.
Cordle--FOR City Manager and FOR Tax Cap
Cohen--AGAINST City Manager and AGAINST Tax Cap
Fox--FOR City Manager and AGAINST Tax Cap
To my knowledge, Fox was NEVER in favor of the tax cap.
If you assume that the voters spoke by not signing enough of the petitions, we had one candidate that sided with the voters (Cohen who won), one that went against the voters (Cordle) and one who split the voters (Fox)

Spending cut vs. tax cut - 2009-11-11 15:28:10
I have to admit that I voted for Josh Cohen on a single issue - his campaign pledge (perhaps too strong a word ... perhaps "campaign interest") in reigning in spending, compared to the appeal-to-the-lowest-common-denominator, frankly idiotic mantra of "TAX CAP NOW!" that I heard from the campaigns particularly of Cordle, but also of Fox. While a tax cap would be a welcome relief, approaching our collective financial woes from the perspective of fiscal sensibility first makes much more sense than the screeching we so often hear from the tea... Tea Party acolytes.
