Even though the weather didn't cooperate, the runners and volunteers did as they all showed up in full force to support the Shafran family.
All proceeds will go to the Rock for Youth Scholarship Program and Joe Shafran Memorial Nature Trail.
About 100 runners and a number of dogs came out in the pouring rain, warmed up with the mayor to music and calisthenics provided by Premier Fitness and WNAV and took part in either the 1-mile fun run or the 5K run. The age of the runners ranged from 8 to over 70.
