It was a very modern political moment.

When news broke about the allegations that the Baltimore office of the community organization ACORN had encouraged mortgage fraud, state Del. Nic Kipke started doing some research online. He found that the Maryland attorney general still recommended ACORN as a mortgage foreclosure counselor.

Disturbed, Kipke, R-Pasadena, posted notes on Facebook and Twitter, where he has well over 1,000 followers.

"It sort of went viral," he recalled.

I hope the readers are not deceived into believing blogs, tweets and facebook posts facilitate transparency or accountability. In fact all of these posts can be, and frequently are, deleted when their prophecies prove false or their rhetorical contents falls out of fashion.
