A dustup over the release of a small amount of asbestos into classrooms at Shady Side Elementary School just won't go away. About 35 teachers and parents met at the school Thursday evening to confront school board officials and ask why the school wasn't evacuated during the cleanup and why they weren't informed until two days after the incident was discovered last month. The contractor, Fitzgerald Electric Co., cut into 15 tiles containing asbestos while installing computer cables over the weekend of Nov. 12-13, and teachers discovered the debris when they returned on the following Monday.
