As a parent of a child with special needs, I'm well aware of the transitional obstacles in bridging the gap between childhood and adulthood.
My severely mentally retarded son, Jimmy, attended Central Special School in Edgewater for 16 years, and the wonderful teachers and staff there became like a second family to him.
