Report: Shady Side could be gone by 2100Published 05/25/08
Sea level rise related to global warming likely will inundate land, alter wetlands and devastate wildlife around the Chesapeake Bay region by the end of the century, according to a report issued Thursday by the National Wildlife Federation. Locally, Shady Side would see the worst of a projected 2-foot rise by the year 2100, with much of the peninsula reverting to swamp because of a rising water table. The federation studied the impacts of sea level rise on the region's coastal habitats and ecosystem. Those changes are likely to adversely affect species that depend on the most threatened habitats, like grasses that shelter...

Very uncool - May 30, 2008
If it were true, let it sink. If the people in Shady Side were smart, they'd have settled in Galesville in the first place. It's pitiful that you have the beautiful West River with paradise (Galesville) on one side and hell (Shady Side) on the other. I'm gonna start running my garden hose into the bay to speed up the process. Brian Nurmi - Annapolis, MD Brian, not nice. We like it here and didn't ask your opinion anyway.

Shady Side - May 27, 2008
The climate has gotten cooler the last decade. Explain what happened to the Global Cooling experts from the 70's. This information is compiled by the same people that want to drain tax dollars away and apply them to their own useless fear mongered projects. I just wish someone could tell me if it will rain tomorrow with some sort of accuracy. HOGWASH!!!!

huh - May 26, 2008
Every year they print this crap! From the reports I have read on NOAA's site; those who live in Middle River, Mayo and close to the city dock in downtown Annapolis should be more worried then Shady Side residents. Maybe I should go out and write some books about polar bears too and then I can be an all knowing specialist of climatology and what is going to happen to the earth in 100 years. I don't doubt that we have changed this planet for the negative, but we have also only been recording weather data for a couple hundred years. Through the research done by geologists our planet has gone through many temperature changes. Next we will hear a report done by birdwatchers turned seismologists that an occurrence of strong earthquakes will start to hit Maryland in the year 2200.

Ice in glass? - May 25, 2008
Glaciers are on land not floating in water, so melting of the glaciers ADDS to the volume of the ocean. In all honesty, no one knows what?s going to happen for sure. Our homes aren't going to last forever so to get all up in arms over natural fluctuations in global systems is silly. Accept changes, move your family and get on with life.

Riiight... - May 25, 2008
Global Warming is pure B.S. The global temperatures have FALLEN in the last 10 years not risen. Let's say you have a full glass of water with lots of ice in it. When the ice melts does the glass overflow? No it doesn't. All these 'Climate Change' studies are based on computer models with skewed and/or dubious information IE, Garbage in, Garbage out. The Global Warming alarmists scream THE SKY IS FALLING! while they worship Mother Earth as their new religion with Al Gore as their prophet. Indeed it's a business too that makes BILLIONS of dollars trading carbon tax credits like bublegum cards. The Communists call these folks
