When elementary school teacher Lisa Paolitto adopted her daughter from an orphanage in China nearly three years ago, she had been told the little girl had heart problems that had been fixed.

Sitting on the front stoop of their Shady Side home, Samantha Paolitto and her mother, Lisa, enjoy a quiet moment. A year after Samantha was adopted from China, she had complicated heart surgery at Johns Hopkins, a story that will be told on ABC Aug. 7.But months later, 6-year-old Samantha Paolitto was at Johns Hopkins getting her heart repaired. It just so happens ABC television was there, too, shooting its documentary mini-series "Hopkins," and Samantha is one of the stars of the show in tonight's concluding episode airing at 10 p.m. Samantha is a bright, smiling and healthy soon-to-be third-grader at Shady Side Elementary School, where her mother is a second-grade...
