Community conversations: Blankets comfort sick kidsPublished 03/16/05
For hundreds of children suffering from chronic illness or living through painful medical treatment, there is nothing like a soft, made-with-love blanket to give them comfort. Many unnamed "blanketeers" across the area are sewing, knitting, quilting and crocheting these special blankets. Once a month, they get together at the Community Center to add the final touches to each blanket, including a stamped card explaining the origin of the blanket. A special poem written just for Project Linus is attached. My favorite line reads, "Let this blanket wrap you in friendship, and cover you in love." What a heartwarming...
