Brigid Bruno wasn't sure what to expect when she suggested starting a special needs religion education class at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park, but she was ready to press her point. The mother of a 7-year-old boy struggling with autism, she wanted help teaching him the elements of her faith. "The fact that I was even listened to was very good," Ms. Bruno said. "I'm trying to help my son have as full a life as possible and his faith is part of that.
