Shipley's Choice Elementary School had a new principal yesterday - for the day.

Matthew Harmeyer, a fourth-grader at Shipley’s Choice Elementary was Principal for the Day yesterday, spending the school day with Shipley’s principal Rocco Ferretti. Matthew’s new job came by chance, in a raffle drawing held by the school’s Human Relations committee. The proceeds from the program will be donated to the Maryland Food Bank. He came dressed for success and ready for business, with a fresh haircut, and wearing a striped tie, blue oxford shirt and khaki pants. When called to the front office by Shipley's secretary Faye Bent, he answered his first radio call with authority: "We'll be right down." Fourth-grader Matthew Harmeyer, was accompanying Shipley's principal Rocco Ferretti on his morning visits to the classrooms. Matthew, 9, won the school's second annual "Principal for a Day" opportunity in a Harvest for the Hungry...
