Our Shepherd Lutheran notes 'golden' anniversaryPublished 11/13/08
The slogan on the front page of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church's 50th anniversary calendar is "2008, our golden year."
Sharon Lee Tegler - For The CapitalCharter members Dee Deardorf, Joann Jernigan and Mary Lord show off several exhibits related to the Our Shepherd’s history including the altar and crosses seen here. They were used in the church’s original sanctuary in the first unit built. The third unit of the church, its present-day sanctuary, was built in October 1982. Beneath it, a quartet of photos illustrate the congregation's journey from a "small group meeting in a private home" to the 900-member congregation it is today, worshipping in a modern church at 400 Benfield Road. Charter members Dee Deardorff, Mary Lord and Joann Jernigan agree that 2008 has "indeed been golden."
