The 'Be a Santa to a Senior' annual program is in its fifth year and although the economy is in a downturn, the program once again found success.

Customers were generous and Ms. Harvey is planning to continue the program, possibly expanding it to help serve the Red Cross as well. About 350 Anne Arundel County seniors in assisted living and nursing homes will each have at least one present under their tree thanks to the efforts of the sponsor Home Instead Senior Care, a provider of non-medical assistance to seniors. Its local office is on Richie Highway in Arnold. David Dickens, Home Instead's owner, and his staff started planning the annual event in the summer. This year, he's glad he did.
