Around the Park: Driving Darby inspires a cancer foundationPublished 03/05/09
There's been a lot of driving to and fro lately for many residents of Shipley's Choice.
Courtesy photoDarby Steadman of Shipley’s Choice proudly presents a $14,520 check to Dr. Leisha Emens of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Steadman participated in a clinical trial of breast cancer vaccine that concluded in December. Dr. Emens is her oncologist. Some of the money raised was from a luncheon over the holidays after a Holiday House Tour. Kathy Harrington has been delivering live crickets from a pet store to Liam Steadman, 9, for his pet gekko while Katie Hood made sure Liam's sister Audrey, 6, made it to ballet class. Others were traveling to pick up a prescription or driving their mom Darby Steadman to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Darby is battling Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
