When the No. 1 Green Hornets 13U Division 3 football team was tied with No. 4 Crofton, 2-2, at halftime during the semifinal at Severna Park High School, the Hornets realized that a berth in the championship game would not be handed to them for free.

While the Hornets defeated the Cardinals twice during the regular season - the first match a 31-0 Severna Park victory - Crofton entered the playoffs with a grudge, and it was hard work for the Hornets as they squeezed out a 10-2 win.
